Work With Us
We serve everyone with a focus on the BIPOC (aka People of the Global Majority), LGBTQIA2S+/GNB, the social-justice minded and those within creative communities; including those in poly, inter-cultural and other structured relationships or families.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy allows you to work one-on-one with a therapist. Sessions occur weekly for 45 minutes, where you will work collaboratively to identify concerns and achieve your goals. Through a process of validation, reflection, and questioning you will gain insight and skills to feel more emotionally connected in your life.
Group Therapy
Group therapy provides a low cost way to address issues that may arise in life in a confidential space with others. Our groups are no more than 6 - 8 individuals in order to provide the most supportive environment possible. With the guidance of a therapist, people find opportunities to grow, learn new tools and skills for coping. We strive to keep groups low cost (self-pay or with insurance) and cycles are 8-10 weeks in length, with some opportunities for ongoing work depending on the nature of the group.
Couples / Intimate Relationship Therapy
Whether it is communication issues, broken trust or desiring to deepen intimacy and feelings of love and connection, couple/intimate relationship therapy begins a process for new understanding for everyone involved. This work uncovers how past relationship patterns, intergenerational beliefs and/or trauma might be affecting the relational dynamics. Together with the support of your therapist the couple or partners will choose how to move forward with new skills or shift to a different stage of your relationship such as opening or closing the relationship structure, mediated separation, divorce or co-parenting. Premarital counseling is also available. This process creates time for partners to improve communication, ways to address conflict, and develop more understanding around your shared values.
Family / Household Unit Therapy
We recognize that families come in all kinds of configurations. When you seek Family/Household Therapy it is usually to address specific issues affecting the health and functioning of everyone at home. The therapeutic process can help you and your loved ones through a difficult period, a major life transition or emotional/behavior challenges.
Areas of specialty include:
Immigrant Family Reunification
Returning to family life after a period of separation can be challenging. Sense of trust in parent(s)/caregiver(s) can be repaired through a process of trust building and emotional awareness. Immigrant Family reunification therapy allows families/households to take the time with a therapist to gently overcome the broken bonds of displacement.
Family-focused brief therapy
When a crisis happens within the household, it can be destabilizing for all involved. This is a focused, instructive and goal-directed approach for families in the middle of a crisis. The main goals are to create new skills for all involved to manage the stressors as a family unit returning the family to proper functioning.
Adolescent/Teen Therapy with Family/Household involvement
The stress of school, challenges within the family or the inconsistency of life can also affect children. A child might begin to display signs of having difficulty managing their emotions or losing interest in activities that they love. If you choose to seek therapy for your child, our theory is that the family/household must also be involved at times to secure long-lasting growth and emotional wellness.
Coaching and Transformative Leadership
Coaching is a process of guiding you through a specific change you would like to make in your life. Whether the goal is personal or professional, you will be able to achieve your desires through exploration, discovery and time-based focused effort. Clinicians who share this offering have their own personal styles towards transformation, if interested in this offering, email us.
Liberation.Work: Wellness Programming for Non-Profit, Creative & Activist Organizations
This has been an unprecedented time for arts and service based organizations. The global pandemic has shown us that not paying attention to our mental health and well-being while being in service to others is detrimental to the state of employees in the workplace. Traditional Employee Assistance Programs can be costly and do not offer the flexibility of service that are unique to service-based organizations that might need curated offerings. We offer executive coaching, individual staff wellness assessments, group work for staff and the organization’s participants, if necessary. If you would like to hear more about this offering, email us.
“No Surprises Act” in effect January 1, 2022
Under this new law, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” on what your medical care, including therapy sessions will cost. Health care providers must give patients/clients who are self-paying or using out of network benefits and an estimate for medical services. This estimate must be in writing at least one business day before having any medical services, including therapy.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Cancellation fees are not included, as that is set as terms outside of medical services. Be sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (646) 797-4340.
Our administration team does an excellent job assisting clients in understanding insurance costs. Please do not hesitate to ask questions about your bill.
